AUTUMN ENGAGEMENT SHOOTS

Nov 19, 2021 | Engagement Shoots

The Seasons

Why is Autumn the best time of year to have engagement shoots? Let me show you!! Now in all honesty, summer is my favourite time of year, I love the heat! However, when it comes to engagement shoots, you really can’t beat the colours in the trees in October/November. Warm tones and cuddly jumpers, soft lighting and gorgeous backdrops – that’s so my bag!

Another reason I prefer to do my engagement shoots in the Autumn is this is normally a quieter time of year! The summer is very busy with weddings and doing engagement shoots on top of that isn’t out of the question, but it can be hard to find the time! Of course there is always winter, but lets face it, a miserable cold January afternoon isn’t always the best vibe. The trees are bare and its a bit bleak, but if there’s a gorgeous frosty morning then that’s always lovely!

Hannah & Jonny

The images in this blog were taken mid November at Stonesfield Common in Oxfordshire. Hannah & Jonny booked me recently for their wedding next July and were keen to have an engagement shoot to get them used to being in front of the camera. They admitted they felt nervous! I also still feel nervous sometimes – because I want to get photos that you’re going to LOVE! Having an engagement shoot gives you an idea of what your wedding photos will look like and how I work. I obviously want you to be happy with both so you feel confident with me! Hannah mentioned to me afterwards that it was nowhere near as awkward as they thought it would be, and they really enjoyed it! That’s exactly what I aim for!

Hannah & Jonny were keen to have an Autumn engagement shoot because they loved the colours this time of year. They choose this location after going there for a dog walk. I hadn’t been there before but it didn’t disappoint! A variety of backdrops and incredible coloured pathways were just a dream! If you have a specific location in mind for your shoot consider if there’s a selection of pretty backgrounds – more variety will give you more images!

Should you book one?

Engagement shoots are included in my full moon package but are also available as an add-on in my other two packages. If you’re nervous about having your photo taken and feel like you could do with some practice, this is the time to do so. The more comfortable you feel around me on your wedding day the more relaxed your portraits will be. Having an engagement shoot is a great way for us to hang out and get to know each other better! It also gives me an insight into what you like as a couple and how I can get the best out of you on your wedding day.
