Are you looking for some DIY wedding inspiration? Alrighty then! Here’s some amazing ideas from Olivia and Storm’s summer farm wedding. Transforming an empty farmyard barn in to a wedding reception sounds challenging, but these two made it look easy with rustic styling and pampas details, elevated with a travel theme showcasing their favourite destinations!
DIY Ceremony
Olivia and Storm had an outdoor ceremony set up on the large farmhouse lawn. Framed by a wall of pampas grass handmade by Olivia the set up looked beautiful with rustic chairs and Olivia’s brother playing the piano. The couple completed the legal part separately before the wedding, which meant they could have a celebrant conduct the ceremony. Celebrants are a great idea if you’d like your ceremony to be more personal and light hearted. And, if you’re getting married somewhere without a wedding licence, like a friends farm, then this is your only option. You can hire a celebrant or you can ask a friend to perform the ceremony for you. So just make sure you pick a confident speaker!
DIY Reception
Now this is DIY wedding inspiration! An empty barn used for housing machinery was transformed in to a fabulous reception room with fairy lights covered the walls and ceiling. Tables were decorated in sage green and natural tones with pampas, engraved fans and shot bottle favours. The table plan was cleverly created by printing names on to mismatch vases, each table being named after a location important to the couple. There was also a sweetie table and picture wall. Not forgetting a neon sign within a pampas frame.
On to the food and drink! The couple opted for a casual feasting experience rather than a formal meal and had a food truck from Lets Curry Fusion serving Indian inspired wraps. The drinks were provided from a converted horse box by China Grey, because every farm wedding should have a horse box! Including two cocktails named after Olivia and Storm’s cats Penny and Doja, check out the cool signage below. And not forgetting the ice cream van providing Mr Whippy’s, which is the perfect addition to any summer wedding!
What I love about this wedding
I really enjoyed the creativity put in to this wedding. Olivia used her TikTok page to showcase her work and give tips and ideas – which you can check out here. Along with creativity, it was also so much fun! Having a huge bridal party brings a lot of energy, and I love a wedding with energy! We spent quite a lot of time on fun group shots including, smoke grenades, a champagne spray and lots of messing around.
