Let’s talk about timings! You’ll want to read Let’s talk about timings! You’ll want to read this! Real talk: your wedding day will sweep by in the blink of an eye, it’s sad, but it’s true! For me it’s really important that you enjoy every moment and don’t miss out on lots of parts due to taking photos. I don’t want you to feel rushed or stressed on the day, so here’s some advice! Try to have a two hour drinks reception - this is one of the best parts of the day and it goes by so quickly with everyone wanting to talk to you. This is also when we will do your group photos and some couple portraits. DON’T have loads of formal group photos, the idea may sound lovely, but the reality is you’ll get fed up pretty quick. They always take longer than you think as herding wedding guests is often like herding cats 🐈😂 I normally suggest sticking to parents, immediate family, any grandparents and bridesmaids/groomsmen. We can grab ad hoc other groups later in the day. I will always try and do your couple portraits towards the end of the drinks reception when your guests are being seated, this way you don’t miss much whilst you’re gone. If you’re having a summer wedding we can do a golden hour session after dinner, if it’s winter we really need to make the most of this time before we lose the light. Having a two hour drinks reception gives me enough time to get everything I need including group photos, candids of guests, room set up and portraits. If you opt for a tight timeline with a lot of group shots it’s always the candids that suffer so do bear that in mind if they’re your priority!
