Fancy doing something a bit different? How about a London elopement? Weddings don’t have to be 200 guests deep, extortionate or stressful. Another option is to have a small, intimate wedding or city elopement! What do you really want from your wedding? Socialising with distant relatives you barely know? Panicking about walking down the aisle in front of a huge room full of people? Or – making the day actually about you as a couple and spending your wedding focussing on each other, rather than everybody else.
Opting for the later can have a lot of benefits. Firstly, keeping costs down – you can always have a big celebration party at a later date – less people equals a smaller spend. This doesn’t mean you can’t still go fancy, you can spend your budget on getting the dress of your dreams or having your wedding meal at a swanky London restaurant. Another benefit – you can take more time to get some awesome couple portraits! Traditional wedding days can have a tight timeline and you worry you don’t want to spend too long away from your guests. If you elope you can go all out on your portraits! Multiple locations and more time to be creative to get those photos you’re going to treasure forever. Who wouldn’t want that?!
Chelsea
Renowned for its luxury shopping, fancy restaurants and of course The Chelsea Flower Show – this sassy little borough of London has a lot to offer in terms of backdrops! Our visit there in early October was perfectly timed to coincide with said flower show. The Ivy Chelsea Garden and Peggy Porschen were all dolled up in fabulous Autumn decor, we really were in luck to enter this Instagram heaven!
On our wander around the borough we also visited the infamous “love pink door” on Oakley Street, the Old Town Hall and the pretty pastel coloured Albert bridge. We visited early on a Sunday morning to make the most of the quiet streets, and therefore, managed to hop in the middle of the road for awesome shots like the one above! If you’re thinking about having a London elopement – Chelsea might be the location for you!
Now to tell you a bit about this gorgeous couple! – Chloe & Tom
Chloe was actually one of my first enquiries! They were planning to get married in Plymouth next year, but what with Covid and postponements with the venue they were looking at 2023. Chloe messaged me a few weeks ago to say that her and Tom just couldn’t wait another 2 years to be married and they were just going to do it now!!
I could see how much these two loved each other and that got me thinking about an idea. When I found out they didn’t have any professional photos at their wedding I wanted to cry! I’m passionate about what I do and I didn’t want these guys to miss out.
THEREFORE – they got dressed back up in their outfits and met me in London to get the couples portraits they’d missed out on! I’ve been wanting to do a shoot in London for so long and it was everything I’d dreamt it would be and more! Thank you Chelsea for having so many awesome back drops, I can’t even decide on my favourite images there are just too many.
When you give your photographer the time and freedom to be creative this is what you get! If you aren’t having a small wedding you can still achieve some great and varied portraits if you allocate a solid hour of your day to them!
